HBC
Planning Applications
The self-induced hiccups
[Gazette 4th July] that ended with HBC losing
an argument with itself over the new-build on Camp Close is a small
but expensive step forward. The plans were only rejected because
of the reduction in size of the football pitch and because of the
likely nuisance to the residents of Littlethorpe Terrace
[see letter]. These matters will be addressed and the
plan resubmitted later this year. The rejection is the most clear
evidence so far that the whole project is being rushed through with
inadequate preparation and consultation. The Claro football league
that has been using Camp Close for years were completely unaware
of the proposals until a few days before the hearing and blissfully
ignorant that they would be left without a usable pitch.
There is still no news on the
date for hearing the listed building application.
You can still register objections or comments to the Spa Baths applications.
Ripon Spa Partnership has drawn up a template
letter, which includes the correct refererence code and address
details - plus a number of potential reasons for objection, which
can be supplemented, amended or deleted as appropriate.
.
The following links will take
you to the 3 individual applications :
i 08/02082/SOSLB
Listed Building application
ii 08/02082/RG4
Conversion
of Spa Baths to Housing
iii 08/02070/RG3MAJ New
pool on Camp Close (closed)
The first of these is the most
important - this is the one that will be reviewed by the Secretary
of State. Also make sure that your remarks are registered as comment
or objection as appropriate.
There are links to HBC letters
and other documents on the information page.

Official
planning notice to convert the Baths to housing
'Personally
I am not prepared to sit back and see this great legacy
of historic buildings needlessly squandered, especially
as, with a little imagination, they can become real assets
to their local communities, offering job opportunities
and focus for local regeneration schemes.'
